It has been busy summer here at Woodbotherer HQ. After all the Christmas rush we took a few weeks off over the festive season to go camping and enjoy some family time.</div>

Over the Summer we have been taking the giant games to some cool events. The photos below were from a magical summer evening at Pah Homestead in Auckland.</div>

This weekend seems to be an explosion of events here in Auckland. If you are local and not already busy or want to get out of town a bit then you may want to come to Hobsonville! <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">You can even catch the ferry there from the city - I know my kids LOVE getting the ferry.</span><br />
<span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}"><br /></span>
<span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}">The <a data-hovercard="/ajax/hovercard/page.php?id=192614804095877&extragetparams=%7B%22directed_target_id%22%3A0%7D" href="https://www.facebook.com/hobsonvillepointfarmersmarket?ref=stream">Hobsonville Point Farmers Market</a> will be open Sat & Sun 9-3pm a special location launch on the Waterfront. There will be a yoga session at 8am
followed by lots of children's activities including the Woodbotherer's games AND you may even spot these lovely upcycled tables that are fresh from the workshop!</span><br />

This is our second Christmas of making Woodbotherer toys. It seems that there is a yearly favorite that out sells the rest. Last year it was the sword and shields, this year the bow + arrows. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happily, since we make everything ourselves in small batches we are able to make more to meet demand. This along with our careful choice of materials means we tread lightly on the planet. We use local fsc timber for the bows, paper straws, rubber bands and felt for the quiver. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The weather has been pretty changable lately here in Auckland, sending the kids running in from riding their bikes when the rain comes down. So this Sunday I set up a very simple target and gave them each a bow with a quiver of arrows.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
Life is a bit of a blur at the moment. As you can imagine this is a busy time of year for us, well it is for everyone right? </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
This Saturday you will find us at the <a href="http://www.michaelpark.school.nz/documents/Fair10%20A5%20Flyer.pdf" target="_blank">Michael Park Steiner Summer Fair</a>. We stumbled across this fair just after we moved to New Zealand 5 years ago and it was magical - we loved it. So it is extra wonderful for us to be part of it this year.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
I think I will let the photos do the talking. If you are local and planning to come to the fair pop over and say hi, I would love to meet you. </div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">
If you can't make it then you don't have to miss out as I will also be filling up the <a href="http://felt.co.nz/shop/woodbotherer" target="_blank">online shop</a> with lots of goodies. Enjoy!</div>

Ok - as promised, here is the next part where we see the doll coming together.<br />

Now we ready to stuff the legs. I use a combination of wool batting and Merino wool knops to get a soft, cuddly stuffing.<br />

Now it is time to make the hands. The hands are sewn on the sewing machine with a stretch stitch and then trimmed to shape.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are nearly finished! For this doll I wanted to experiment with some embroidery stitches for sewing on the hat. Here I am using herringbone embroidery stitch. </div>

In this post I am going to explain how to make a Rainbow cuddle doll. I love rainbows and I love cuddle dolls, so putting the two together has been something I have wanted to do for ages.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will do this post in two parts, as I think it will be rather long. I have tried to take photos as I worked through each process.</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJlxaldKbZ7GiVm-40pNMMHzqnWd8uKF4ZBBg6ULBZfK2f5X1XBQNBxC6HUuiePBlL7YygzoeTHJg9gZg1HiUf3c2QdqZw4e2PRK7H2-OmkP9VJekijX8TquB5Ja178EzdAr-tnBShyphenhyphenY/s1600/IMG_4502.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJlxaldKbZ7GiVm-40pNMMHzqnWd8uKF4ZBBg6ULBZfK2f5X1XBQNBxC6HUuiePBlL7YygzoeTHJg9gZg1HiUf3c2QdqZw4e2PRK7H2-OmkP9VJekijX8TquB5Ja178EzdAr-tnBShyphenhyphenY/s1600/IMG_4502.JPG" width="466" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOX8Dq93OM1TkfB_GHV9LeJrS3EFI_y5Jh-KdYakG9IAgeaaFBuXxrfgJhVXJGC6MzGC0VbmU6A9r1PWTa4udcROflNwH9dXNQe57ALij3dV-e0CAx3Ln64ZdaBVfAklVwDAV81oLnTxs/s1600/IMG_4361.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOX8Dq93OM1TkfB_GHV9LeJrS3EFI_y5Jh-KdYakG9IAgeaaFBuXxrfgJhVXJGC6MzGC0VbmU6A9r1PWTa4udcROflNwH9dXNQe57ALij3dV-e0CAx3Ln64ZdaBVfAklVwDAV81oLnTxs/s1600/IMG_4361.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first step in making this rainbow cuddle doll is to dye the fabric. I took a good quality double raised flannel and cut it into strips the correct length to make the hat, arms and legs. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjTmVSaITiXJQqoeRLWFs9t4uEVSIvK8nMZp0KTYi2HCbjJu2jrffKHgDbP3PXd4TnSbjMdH1CUWXCp1dnHVNp3As5rI2dd2VwdDRolNd2d9dpywPNrLa2EAeOBoGBgTr-ucyBUS0AwQU/s1600/IMG_4299.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjTmVSaITiXJQqoeRLWFs9t4uEVSIvK8nMZp0KTYi2HCbjJu2jrffKHgDbP3PXd4TnSbjMdH1CUWXCp1dnHVNp3As5rI2dd2VwdDRolNd2d9dpywPNrLa2EAeOBoGBgTr-ucyBUS0AwQU/s1600/IMG_4299.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This shows the fabric during the dying process being dipped into the second colour - blue and yellow into green.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjTmVSaITiXJQqoeRLWFs9t4uEVSIvK8nMZp0KTYi2HCbjJu2jrffKHgDbP3PXd4TnSbjMdH1CUWXCp1dnHVNp3As5rI2dd2VwdDRolNd2d9dpywPNrLa2EAeOBoGBgTr-ucyBUS0AwQU/s1600/IMG_4299.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBEDilTuJM6HVWZlj1xUtKlnCTDTeaXCzVidiGHIfXbo6qmq4GeFLKmCq_qzFDsPnO4w4CiyeUN7sdYyCd3b7WsZ1CubEg5QZ-U7LW27ch4u1MA__-AIb9UkAk80dhlu9LlK_5Ef4tU7E/s1600/IMG_4303.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBEDilTuJM6HVWZlj1xUtKlnCTDTeaXCzVidiGHIfXbo6qmq4GeFLKmCq_qzFDsPnO4w4CiyeUN7sdYyCd3b7WsZ1CubEg5QZ-U7LW27ch4u1MA__-AIb9UkAk80dhlu9LlK_5Ef4tU7E/s1600/IMG_4303.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the fabric after dyeing, drying on the washing line. It is in the same order as the doll (and a rainbow). Red/orange will be for the hat, yellow green for the arms, dark green, blue purple for the legs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0ubIqn-qES9yfAlusEaWqreoOlDefbg08J2PKwo3JdlAepPSEvtpGAXch_UJvuC36s2OZHUfSBpM3eEnXX_X-wDFm4uTet-Xg8NVONScwSY0-3E2pQW4S8-GQJYMhUvtp_WkdUgSNRcY/s1600/IMG_4363.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0ubIqn-qES9yfAlusEaWqreoOlDefbg08J2PKwo3JdlAepPSEvtpGAXch_UJvuC36s2OZHUfSBpM3eEnXX_X-wDFm4uTet-Xg8NVONScwSY0-3E2pQW4S8-GQJYMhUvtp_WkdUgSNRcY/s1600/IMG_4363.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next step is to make the head and 'heart' of the doll. The heart is the part the child will hold onto when they cuddle the doll. This needs to be firm but not as firm as the head.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I start by making a tube which is gathered and secured at the top. This tube is then filled with sheep wool. The top is stuffed very firmly to make the head and the bottom, less so to make the heart.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The tube is then secured at the bottom and linen thread is tied around to form the neck.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcqERm-lLK-7HnDrPReNOkE_MUHJp42Vh-AX6Fisw5RGnVcFrSqX2f-ishtMImZ7PzaxfsVrxymLz-nzeWH0UHYDwSHf7DQ6QQQfyGtC3xllDIOLQC5AzLvBLaSGOXqSKj-HrLHuQiWnM/s1600/IMG_4364.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcqERm-lLK-7HnDrPReNOkE_MUHJp42Vh-AX6Fisw5RGnVcFrSqX2f-ishtMImZ7PzaxfsVrxymLz-nzeWH0UHYDwSHf7DQ6QQQfyGtC3xllDIOLQC5AzLvBLaSGOXqSKj-HrLHuQiWnM/s1600/IMG_4364.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The face is then shaped with more linen thread.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqIVzhszbYpqDNhBnTo8tXx2-_5opkjiGxR6BSSTboXTNTOB_xiT8YIeAS62BKmrT0jwxE2KqfozZCK1vBMc-rTNXKM1-2SYPmbQTdiNoAfwtbrc8x_kWZd3yqJIHelUSDB-TjwuITXgw/s1600/IMG_4366.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqIVzhszbYpqDNhBnTo8tXx2-_5opkjiGxR6BSSTboXTNTOB_xiT8YIeAS62BKmrT0jwxE2KqfozZCK1vBMc-rTNXKM1-2SYPmbQTdiNoAfwtbrc8x_kWZd3yqJIHelUSDB-TjwuITXgw/s1600/IMG_4366.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now it is time to sew the body. This is made in two parts - the arms and the legs. They are made from a simple rectangle shape. Above I am marking out the feet and getting ready to sew.<br />
<br />
I also sew the arms leaving a gap to put the doll's head through (sorry no pictures of this). I also cut the other side of the arms so that the head can fit through.<br />

Next, I am going to embroider the face. I usually do the eyes first and then the mouth, making sure they form an equilateral triangle.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Here the face embroidery has been done and I have tried a hat on for size.<br />
<br />
Ok - in the next 'How to make a Waldorf Cuddle Doll" post you can see how it all comes together.<br />
<br />
best wishes<br />

Hello!<br />
<br />
We have been busy busy Elves and Woodbotherer's lately filling up the shelves in our <a href="http://www.woodbotherer.felt.co.nz/" target="_blank">shop</a>.<br />
<br />
I took advantage of a quiet moment today to photograph this sweet Spring doll I have just finished in amongst the Spring flowers in the garden.<br />

Hello<br />
<br />
Spring has sprung in New Zealand and there is so much to do!<br />
<br />
Life has been full of festivals and dancing and lots of making.<br />
<br />
Here are a couple of things we are working towards:<br />
<br />
I am currently preparing to take the Woodbotherer toys to the bi-annual <a href="http://www.rudolfsteinerfederation.org.nz/news/biannual-conference-rudolf-steiner-early-childhood-education-new-zealand-2013" target="_blank">Early Childhood Steiner Conference in Cambridge</a>. Exciting times, but much to do to prepare.<br />
<br />
This weekend the Woodbotherer will have some of his giant games at the <a href="http://www.queens-wharf.co.nz/Queens-Wharf/What-s-On-Details.aspx?ID=235&Title=Shed%2010%20Family%20Fun%20Days&DontShow=Hide&?SortBy=" target="_blank">Family Fun day in Auckland</a>. <br />
He has made some new ones including Mill Stone, Rod + Ball and Quoits.<br />

The Woodbotherer recently had a lovely commission from a local Kindergarten to make a set of giant games for them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are a few photos from the day they were delivered. </div>

This game we have called 'wall ball'. The player puts the small ball in the cradle and by pulling both strings guides the ball up to the top. It is tricker than it looks!<br />
<br />
Hope the kids have lots of fun with these - I am sure they will.<br />

Have a great weekend.<br />

Here's a simple and inexpensive project to do with the kids. Recycling and making something new in a very simple way.<br />
<br />
Before Theo's birthday this year we made his birthday cake candles together. Five wobbly, homemade candles. Simple and special.<br />
<br />
You will need:<br />
<br />
Burnt down/unwanted beeswax candles<br />
Candle wick <a href="http://www.forestfolk.co.nz/" target="_blank">(I got mine here)</a><br />
Empty tin can<br />
Saucepan + water <br />
kebab stick - or any kind of stick!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhobg3OZkckFepiXwSfsTsjUJ4iiI0w81wdpylolmEwnctkDg1vwWeTLpfeuIFF_bGLfrUOeMJkZem3AYn1obdpgsJsCI4x9B1RMYGrKqS7hePB6NHS8wBHXw2cqgVf6jdFcl51Pg34cFQ/s1600/IMG_3412.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhobg3OZkckFepiXwSfsTsjUJ4iiI0w81wdpylolmEwnctkDg1vwWeTLpfeuIFF_bGLfrUOeMJkZem3AYn1obdpgsJsCI4x9B1RMYGrKqS7hePB6NHS8wBHXw2cqgVf6jdFcl51Pg34cFQ/s400/IMG_3412.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">We took an old beeswax candle and melted it in a tin can in some simmering water.</td></tr>

These dolls above are for my lovely friend Carlene. She runs the most amazing <a href="http://www.titirangi.steiner.school.nz/playgroup-curriculum" target="_blank">playgroup</a> here in Auckland. When a new baby is born they are handmade a special gift. She asked me to help her work out a new pattern for a 'first doll'- these are the prototypes.<br />

Finally, here are a few little faces hanging out in my workroom. The little doll I made for Theo for his birthday. Hmmm, I rather like him - could he be a doll for a doll? Planning to make some more little dolls like this soon.<br />

I was recently sent this wonderful book called Sweet and Simple Handmade by Melissa Wastney from <a href="http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Tiny Happy</a>. I flicked through and immediately starting planning some new projects.<br />
<br />
With a chance find of a large piece of blue corduroy at the market and a growth spurt from Theo. Trousers for my boy (I am English after all) went to the top of my list.<br />
<br />
I had planned to make Theo the Cargo Pants from <a href="http://oliverands.com/oliver-and-s-patterns/OLV-OS035FC.html" target="_blank">Oliver + S</a>, but seeing as it is the school holidays and I will have company in the sewing room - I chose to go with the Sweet and Simple pattern and I am so glad I did.<br />
<br />
The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the construction so simple I could complete the trousers easily in an afternoon even whilst sewing with a child on my lap!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Laying out the front and back legs</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I really like the simplicity of this pattern - tried and tested. It is easy to customize and Melissa shows you how to adjust the length and suggests ways you could make them your own.<br />
<br />
Theo wanted to keep it fairly simple but when it came to adding the pockets we turned one around to make a long thin pocket. Fun.<br />
<br />
Just perfect for playing in the garden on the latest 'train track'.<br />
<br />

The last few winters I have tried to knit at least 1 item each for my little family (admittedly Fil only gets gloves or a hat).<br />
Usually, I start with the kids and by the time it is my turn Spring is on it's way and the project is put away for another year.<br />
<br />
This year I decided to start with me!<br />
<br />
I made the <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/brynja" target="_blank">Brynja</a> by Helene Magnusson.<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, 'Lucida Sans Unicode', 'Lucida Grande', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px;"> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">The 10 ply merino knitted up really quick and the thought of doing the lovely colour change pattern at the top kept me motivated through the second sleeve.</span></span></span></span><br />

<br />
My kids were very entertained by the idea of me CUTTING the knitting I had just completed. I have come to love it - and it adds some drama to the making of a cardigan!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Fil made me some lovely wooden buttons. He strung them up so the oil could dry.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So, here I am in my new cosy cardigan and still plenty of knitting time until Spring.<div>
<br /></div>

I am planning to knit something for Evie next. Apparently she wants exactly the same so we can be matching! </tbody></table>
I have been doing quite a bit of mid-winter inspired crafting lately.<br />
<br />
I would like to show you is this lantern that I made with Theo. He was home from kindi for 2 weeks whilst unwell and as he recovered we found the chance to craft together.<br />
<br />
He missed out on making a lantern at school, which is a yearly tradition ending with an evening lantern walk - so we made our own. A quick look through Pinterest and we were all set.<br />
<br />
This is what we made.<br />

<br />
I have recently discovered the magic of transparencies. These are pictures made with layers of coloured wax paper. You can either put them in the window or they look beautiful on a dark evening with a candle behind.<br />
<br />
This weekend as part of my children's school Matariki festival I will be holding a workshop making these. They depict the Matariki story of Tamarereti which I will tell followed by lots of creativity. Drawing, Cutting, sticking.<br />
<br />
You are welcome to come along and bring your children too. All the details of the festival are <a href="http://www.titirangi.steiner.school.nz/event/celebrate-matariki-6th-7th-july" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Best wishes<br />

Hello!<br />
<br />
I started this blog a year ago this month. Whist I haven't been the most prolific blogger I have enjoyed sharing some of our creative makings and enjoy hearing your feedback. It has opened up a whole new online community for me, one that I am still learning how to be a part of.<br />
<br />
For our 1 year anniversary we will be hosting a small giveaway. Just a token of our appreciation for you folks coming and checking out what we are doing and helping spread the good word about the things we make.<br />
<br />
So, for one lucky reader we would like to offer these two lovely wooden ducks along with some wooden grass. Perfect for stories or creative play.<br />

<br />
We celebrated at home with some simple special family time since he is still recovering from the Chickenpox.<br />
<br />
This included experimental baking, building a Lego castle, a favourite dinner in front of the fire, a lantern walk around the garden and a volcano cake to finish.<br />

This is one of my favorite times of the year not least because it is my boy's birthday on the shortest day closely followed by mine. <br />
<br />
Apart from the rain and the cold, we have had our fair share of illness around here lately and so we have been spending more time indoors.<br />
<br />
Today I thought I would show you a few of the inside activities my kids have been getting up to lately.<br />

<b> Playdough</b><br />
<br />
1 cup Flour<br />
1 cup Warm water<br />
2 tsp Cream of tartar<br />
1 tsp Oil <br />
1/4 Cup of salt<br />
food colouring<br />
optional extra - a few drops of lavender essential oil<br />
<br />
Mix all ingredients together in a pan. Stir over a medium heat until smooth.<br />

</div>
Hello! this week I bring you a doll I have just put the finishing touches to - like hand sewing a rolled hem on the top of her t-shirt as it is so tiny!<br />
<br />
I have made both girl and boy dolls and have read a fair bit recently about boy dolls and boys playing with dolls. In our house this is just normal and the gender of my children's dolls seems quite flexible at times!<br />
<br />
However, for this doll I wanted to make a girl doll who wasn't quite so 'girly'. Maybe on reflection I was inspired by the changes in my own daughter who now prefers trousers and most other colours to pink.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI6UXXnzmQcUzvLSVsikbJfdYf749futHtrc1CNfFQJ6_ouh5tH0KtF9XJOXymZZttwETB2J8mq93CoxemQ-5OD7Tdcz7oMtFuiSdV1JcRhvecDJqCZitD5DrZdc14KAzlEPeClRYJxX4/s1600/IMG_3425.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI6UXXnzmQcUzvLSVsikbJfdYf749futHtrc1CNfFQJ6_ouh5tH0KtF9XJOXymZZttwETB2J8mq93CoxemQ-5OD7Tdcz7oMtFuiSdV1JcRhvecDJqCZitD5DrZdc14KAzlEPeClRYJxX4/s640/IMG_3425.JPG" width="426" /></a></div>
Anyhow, I think she turned out quite lovely. What kind of doll would you like to make and who for?Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08111301334986819692noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7513081561935813302.post-14354955271855288742013-05-10T14:27:00.002-07:002013-05-10T17:38:42.829-07:00A Commisson<br />
